Introducing Learned Natural Walking
We are excited to introduce our end-to-end neural network, trained with reinforcement learning (RL), for humanoid locomotion.

Humanoid robots have now become fully-equipped for integration into product lines - a feat achieved by advanced machines at the BMW Group Plant Spartanburg after rigorous rounds of testing.

Named Figure 02, the humanoid robots received significant speed and efficiency upgrades, making them workforce-ready in BWM’s frontlines. The upgrades specifically resulted in an astonishing 400% speed increase and 7-times more success rates in their tasks - effectively translating to more efficient and reliable production processes.

The Figure 02 robots are already equipped with state-of-the-art technology before their upgrades. They were introduced to testing with advanced AI algorithms programmed to help them perceive and adapt to their surroundings.

These algorithms allowed them to use their specially-made bodies to handle tasks such as rigorous parts assembly and the performance of precise quality checks.

The successful testing marks a significant milestone in industrial automation. The BMW Group Plant Spartanburg tests demonstrate how Figure 02 and other advanced machines can further streamline manufacturing to become more cost-effective, productive, and efficient.

After the transition of Figure 02 robots as fully-functional components in BMW’s production line, it’s expected that the rest of the automotive industry will follow with their own innovations in the field of robotics and automotives.
