Pollen Robotics’ ‘Reachy 2’: Enhancements and Significance of Versatility in Differing Industries
Pollen Robotics, renowned for its ‘Reachy,’ launched at CES 2020. Introducing
their latest innovation, ‘Reachy 2.’ With comprehensive iteration of its open-source,
modular robot platform. As ‘Reachy’ is the basis for this upgrade, the new model aims to
close in the gap between academic research and practical operations in industries such
as artificial development (AI), retail, and healthcare. With the now enhanced version,
‘Reachy 2’ marks as an invaluable tool for researchers and industry professionals alike
with its user-friendly design and versatility.
The second version, ‘Reachy 2,’ boasts major importance in enhancements,
which include two bio-inspired 1-degree-of-freedom (DOF) automated arms that provide
advanced mobility capabilities. This platform encourages teleoperation by utilizing a
best-in-class virtual reality (VR) app. Enabling users to manipulate the robot remotely
and managing data acquisition. Operates on ‘ROS2 Foxy’ and controllable via ‘Python,’
‘Reachy 2’ exhibits as a versatile and robust basis for the development of AI-based
robotics applications.
‘Reachy 2’s adaptability is evident in the performance of its four available
configurations: ‘dual or single arm with a stationary base and dual or single arm with a
mobile base equipped with omniwheels’ and LiDAR for effective terrain navigation. The
structure allows personalization in order to meet specific analyses or the ideals of
differing industries. Recognizable institutions have already merged ‘Reachy’ with their
works, displaying its significance, appeal, and efficiency.
