Bay Area Robot Company Buys Kind Humanoid

1X buys Kind Humanoid to speed up development of robots that can live and work with people.

"Having Christoph join the 1X team here in the Bay will accelerate our path to a world full of humanoid robots," says 1X CEO Bernt Bornich.

Kind Humanoid brings Mona, a two-legged robot for homes and healthcare, to the deal.

"Joining 1X feels like the perfect next chapter for Kind Humanoid," says founder Christoph Kohstall, a former Stanford scientist.

The companies want robots to learn by interacting with humans in real situations.

Kind Humanoid started in Palo Alto, creating robots that work naturally with people.

1X aims to make robots that can handle many different jobs.

Both teams will work from the San Francisco Bay Area.

The merger combines Kind Humanoid's home robot expertise with 1X's technology.

The companies believe robots should learn and adapt by working with humans.
