Toyota Opens Robot Test City Near Mount Fuji

Toyota has launched Woven City, a prototype community at Mount Fuji's base where robots handle transportation, deliveries, and city maintenance.

Chairman Akio Toyoda unveiled the project during a live-streamed press conference.

"This is not just a place to live; it's a place to thrive," Toyoda said, presenting the hydrogen-powered development.

The city uses self-driving vehicles instead of private cars and deploys robots for tasks from grocery delivery to medical care.

Toyota designed the project as a testing ground for new technologies, inviting startups and researchers to participate.

The development runs entirely on hydrogen fuel cells, reflecting Toyota's focus on sustainable energy.

Smart homes in the city connect to a central system that manages energy use and infrastructure.

The company hasn't revealed how residents will adjust to living alongside robots.
