New Robot Helps Workers in Smart Factories

Oversonic has launched RoBee, a human-shaped robot designed to handle dangerous factory tasks while working alongside humans. The robot marks a shift toward Industry 5.0, where machines assist rather than replace workers.

The company developed RoBee during the COVID-19 pandemic to improve workplace safety in manufacturing.

RoBee uses artificial intelligence to perform risky and repetitive jobs, letting workers focus on tasks requiring human judgment and creativity.

The robot is capable of moving and working in human-designed spaces courtesy of irts advanced sensors, cameras, and voice capabilities.

Industry 5.0 builds upon the advanced of Germany-introduced Industry 4.0 in 2011, with the former now emphasizing environmental sustainability and worker safety.

The European Commission says this new approach to manufacturing could create safer workplaces without eliminating jobs.

The robot meets industrial safety standards for use in smart factories.

This development follows Japan's Society 5.0 concept, which aims to blend advanced technology with social and environmental benefits.
